A Message from Mayor Shawn Pfaff

Mayor Shawn Pfaff

Dear Neighbor:

I hope you are enjoying the longer days and warmer weather and are excited about the upcoming summer. I know I sure am.
Before the summer begins I would like to look back on what we have been able to do together over the past year. We opened a newlibrary in June, broke ground on a $100 million expansion at Promega in August, began construction on the Highway 14 interchange in October, approved a HyVee grocery store in November, completed a detailed outreach and expansion plan with businesses in the northwest part of the City in January, opened a newly-remodeled community and senior center in February, and here in May, we have put the pieces in place to begin the economic revitalization efforts along the important and vibrant North Fish Hatchery Road corridor.

We were able to do this all while our nation’s economy still lingers and while, unfortunately, still too many of our residents are feeling the impacts of the recession. Those accomplishments are no small feat, and we should be proud of ourselves that even during the tough times, we invested in our community to make Fitchburg an even better place to live, work, raise a family and retire.
There is so much to enjoy and do in Fitchburg this summer, so I hope you will join me in relaxing and taking part in some of our community’s great events. I encourage you to attend our Concerts in the Park series, shop at the Farmers’ Market on Thursdays at the Agora Pavilion, purchase some neat arts and crafts at the Agora Art Show, participate in the summer programming at the library and/or just simply enjoy time riding your bike along the numerous bike trails in our city. I’d also like to encourage you to enjoy our fantastic parks by taking your dog for a walk, celebrate a family occasion or sign up for one or more of our summer recreation activities.

Again, thank you for giving me the opportunity to be your Mayor. It is a task that I am honored to have and something I have enjoyed greatly because I know I serve a wonderful community.

If you have any questions or need assistance, please do not hesitate to contact me via my assistant Marcie at 270-4213 or marcie.rekowski@city.fitchburg.wi.us.

Sincerely,

Shawn Pfaff, Mayor
